Welcome. My name is Dave and I have been a web designer for 6 years after being asked by an employer to help with a web site.  Most of what I had to learn in the beginning was self taught but I found that my background in Graphic Design easily worked into the ideals of web design and I quickly learned to love it.

I began my career in the 1990′s when I started school for Graphic Design.  My background was based in drawing and logo design but I did gravitate toward hand-drawn animation.  When I moved to Tennessee in 1996 I began studying animation from a local talent named Todd Schott. Over the years I have expanded my studies to include video production, web design, social media and animation.

In 2008, I began working with one of the largest web design companies in the region.  In that time I received a crash-course in every element of web design from beginning to end.  The beauty of the job is that we saw all types of customers from small, local business to large restaurant chains needing to establish social media and CMS styles into their site.

And as much as design and functionality are important, that job taught me the most important aspect to this business is customer service.  I’m sure you expect more than just a random person to slap together a cheap template for you and take your money.  Maybe you were unfortunate enough to deal with one of those large web designers that had slow production times and every time you called you talked to a different person or could never get a straight answer.

You should never feel intimidate or ‘in the dark’ when it comes to your web site.   When I build a site it’s not just a portfolio piece for me.  It’s one for you!

On the design end, I have experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash; as well as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. I have a background in design and typography and I am experienced with training individuals to use their sites and social media.

Since 2006 I have also been involved in blogging and social media.  I have a deep background in CMS (Content Management Systems) which allow the user, you, to be able to customize your site more as well as incorporate updates and news.  This is vital for many businesses today as people don’t just want to visit a static site that gets updated every few years.  Keeping up with your industry is important and today we have various tools to help you get your message out including social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

I have helped design and train over a hundred clients on using their new CMS system and learning the ins and outs of Facebook and Twitter.   I have consulted various sites on WordPress design as well as helping social media campaigns on sites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon.

Over the years, I have worked independently as well as for J-Squared Graphics and Knoxville Internet.
